1978 Tomica Lamborghini Countach LP500S

The legendary, Bertone-designed Lamborghini Countach was produced by the Italian automaker from 1974 to 1990. The rear-wheel drive was powered by a longitudinal rear mid-engine Lamborghini V12. The first production model, the LP400, had a 3.9 L engine. In 1978 the LP400 S was introduced with wider tires and fiberglass flares over the wheels. The LP500 S, released in 1982, retained an unchanged exterior, but updated the interior and boosted the engine up to 4.8 L.

The Tomica F50 Lamborghini Countach LP500S was first released in 1978. This black example with gold trim – another of my Wichita eBay scores – has gold wheels to complement the trim color. Notice that the wheels are similar in design to the fairly common 5-spoke Tomica wheels, but in this case they have only 4 spokes. In 1987, the casting was revised to give it more enhanced fender flares and it was released with the same name but given the number F12.
