1978 Tomica Ferrari 312 T3

The Ferrari 312T was a Formula One car designed by Mauro Forghieri and used from 1975 until 1980. A simple design that could be easily upgraded, the 312T series was one of the most successful cars in Formula One history, winning 27 of 89 races, 4 Constructors’ Championships and 3 Drivers’ Championships. The 312T3 made its debut in the 1978 season but managed only 5 wins until it was replaced by the T4 in 1979.

The Tomica Ferrari 312T3 was first released in 1978. This nice example is another of my Wichita eBay scores. It was apparently packaged with a sticker sheet that included the Ferrari logo and the number 11, matching the livery of the Carlos Reutemann-piloted car from the 1978 season.

Several other open-wheel racecars were introduced into the Foreign Tomica line in 1978, including the No. F36 Lotus 78 Ford, the No. F39 McLaren M26 Ford Formula, the No. F69 Chevron BMW, and the No. F61 Brabham BT46 Alfa Romeo.
